Using the Snapshot Manager to take snapshots of your VMware virtual machines does not constitute a backup solution. To safeguard and restore your virtual machines during outages. Ahsay is the backup solution you need!
Please use the following steps to backup Virtual Machines (VMware ESXi) using AhsayOBM.
- Launch AhsayOBM.
- On the AhsayOBM login screen, enter your login credentials and click [OK] to continue.
- Click the Backup Sets tile.
- Click the + icon to create a new backup set.
- Enter the name of your new backup set then select VMware Backup as the backup set type. Click [Next] to continue.
- Select VMware ESXi 5.5 / 6 / 6.5 / 6.7 / 7.0 / 8.0 as the version.
- Type the password of the root account and the host name. Use the default settings for Port and SSH Port which are 443 and 22, respectively. Click [Next] to verify the connection with the ESXi host.
- Select the virtual drives or virtual machines that you wish to backup. Click [Next] to continue.
- Create an automatic backup schedule. Click the + icon to add a schedule. Click [Next] to continue.
Enable "Run Retention Policy after backup" when creating a backup schedule. - Select the Backup mode and click the + icon to add a storage destination. Click [Next] to continue.
- Use the default setting for Granular Restore. Click [Next] to continue.
- Use the default setting for Encryption. Click [Next] to continue.
- Secure the encryption key and keep it in a safe place. Click [Confirm] to continue.
- Click [Backup now] to start a backup job or click [Close] to exit.
The automatic backup will start at the schedule set in step 9.
