Backup Microsoft SQL server databases for full data protection with the capability for the latest point-in-time recovery. Please use the following steps to Backup Microsoft SQL Server Database (ODBC) using AhsayOBM.

  1. Launch AhsayOBM.
  2. On the AhsayOBM login screen, enter your login credentials and click [OK] to continue.
  3. Click the Backup Sets tile.
  4. Click the + icon to create a new backup set.
  5. Enter the name of your new backup set then select MS SQL Server Backup as the backup set type.
  6. Select ODBC (with staging data; support full, differential and transaction log backup) as the backup mode.
  7. Select the SQL server and use Windows Authentication or a trusted connection for the Login ID and Password of the server. Click [Next] to continue.
  8. Select the whole server as the backup source. Click [Next] to continue.
    Verify if the correct Recovery Model is selected for the databases by right-clicking the database.
  9. Create an automatic backup schedule. Click the + icon to create either a full, differential, or transaction log backup schedule. Click [Next] to continue.
    Enable "Run Retention Policy after backup" when creating a backup schedule.
  10. Select the Backup mode and click the + icon to add a storage destination. Click [Next] to continue.
  11. Use the default setting for Encryption. Click [Next] to continue.
  12. Secure the encryption key and keep it in a safe place. Click [Confirm] to continue.
  13. Enter the log in credentials for the Windows User Authentication.
    Note: This screen will only show if a scheduled backup is enabled and set successfully.
  14. **Note: Before running a backup job, set the temporary directory to a different local drive with sufficient disk space for optimal backup and restore performance.**
  15. Click [Close] then select the backup set for additional settings.
  16. Click the [Show advanced settings].
  17. Click [Others] then under Temporary Directory, click [Change] and select a different local drive.
  18. On the main menu of AhsayOBM, click the Backup tile.
  19. Choose the type of backup to run: Full, Differential, or Transaction Log.
  20. Click [Backup] to start a backup job.
