Backup Microsoft SQL server databases for full data protection with the capability for the latest point-in-time recovery. Please use the following steps to Backup Microsoft SQL Server Database (VSS) using AhsayOBM.
- Launch AhsayOBM.
- On the AhsayOBM login screen, enter your login credentials and click [OK] to continue.
- Click the Backup Sets tile.
- Click the + icon to create a new backup set.
- Enter the name of your new backup set then select MS SQL Server Backup as the backup set type.
- Select VSS (without staging data) as the backup mode.
- Select the SQL server and use Windows Authentication or a trusted connection for the Login ID and Password of the server. Click [Next] to continue.
- Select the whole server as the backup source. Click [Next] to continue.
Verify if the correct Recovery Model is selected for the databases by right-clicking the database. - Create an automatic backup schedule. Click the + icon to create a full database backup schedule. Click [Next] to continue.
Enable "Run Retention Policy after backup" when creating a backup schedule. - Select the Backup mode and click the + icon to add a storage destination. Click [Next] to continue.
- Use the default setting for Encryption. Click [Next] to continue.
- Secure the encryption key and keep it in a safe place. Click [Confirm] to continue.
- Enter the log in credentials for the Windows User Authentication.
Note: This screen will only show if a scheduled backup is enabled and set successfully. - Click [Backup now] to start a backup job or click [Close] to exit.
The automatic backup will start at the schedule set in step 9.
