Limitations

Below are the limitations of Bare Metal backup and restore on Linux:

  • Bare Metal is only available in AhsayOBM. This is a Run-on-Client (ROC) backup set only.
  • Supports only LVM2 Thin and LVM2.
  • During restore, all the existing data on all disks in the bare metal machine will be destroyed and be replaced by selected structure during the restore.
  • Bare Metal does not support EFI boot + No LVM or BIOS boot + No LVM (prompt message will display).
  • Bare Metal backup does not support LVM version 1.

  • Bare Metal cannot be run using Restore in AhsayOBM (prompt message will be displayed).

  • Bare Metal does not support legacy BIOS boot mode.
  • User may select from original disk structure (same structure as the original source) or single disk structure (select only one disk to restore all the backed up volume groups).
  • User may select single disk structure then after may select original disk structure or vice versa.
