Data encryption is a security feature used by Ahsay to protect the privacy and confidentiality of files that have been backed up. All files are encoded during the backup process using a special encryption key which can be randomly generated or user-defined. The backup data can only be accessed or decrypted by a user with the correct encryption key.

The encrypted backup data will be meaningless or useless to a person or hackers accessing it without the correct encryption key. This also applies to customers who have lost their encryption key, as they will no longer have the ability to restore their backup data. So customers need to retain a copy of their encryption key in a safe place.

Ahsay Immutable Backup

Ahsay encrypts all backup data (contents and filename) using a robust AES 256-bit encryption algorithm before transferring it over the internet or network to the backup destination(s). A randomly generated encryption key, which is 44 characters long and contains a mix of upper and lower-case alphanumeric characters and symbols, encodes the backup data. The backup data remains encrypted when stored on the backup destination, so even if hackers could steal the backup data, they would not be able to read the contents.
